His Dark Materials

This trilogy was such a wonderful read. It follows two children, Lyra Belacqua and Will Parry, as they journey through a series of parallel universes. The world-building is incredible, especially the concept of dæmons—animal companions that represent a person’s soul. What starts as a quest to find a missing friend quickly evolves into a cosmic war against a tyrannical authority. It’s a gripping adventure that also manages to be a profound exploration of metaphysics and consciousness, making you think long after you’ve finished the last page.
